Weeks 20-24

My goodness!  I can't believe I haven't updated my blog since I was 18 weeks.  I'm 24 weeks now!  We've made it to viability!!!  Such a happy milestone for me!

I've had a LOT of ultrasounds since 18 weeks but I will try and remember what was said.

20 weeks: I was seen in Birmingham for my regular fluid and position check.  ALL GOOD.  Baby A had 4cm fluid, B had 5cm fluid.  No growth check but baby A was head down and B was transverse.  Heart rates were in the 150's.

21 weeks: I had my OB check up and got a growth scan of both babies.  Baby A was 12 oz and baby B was 15oz.  I was told fluid levels were good.  Both babies were transverse again. I also got the cutest foot/leg pics of the boys!

The only problem is that my urine showed a decent amount of blood and my ketones were high.  The high ketones were attributed to my frequent vomiting-and my OB put me on Prilosec.  Let me tell you, it's been a night and day difference with my vomiting on that stuff!  I can actually keep food down now! Thank you Jesus!  (Yes I tried ACV and would end up burping ACV and it let me tell you, that stuff is AWFUL coming back up!)

Three days after my OB appt, I started noticing back pain on my right flank area.  UGH.  Infection? Kidney stone?  I called my OB and he put me on antibiotics.  I HATE antibiotics but agreed to it as the pain was the same as when I had my kidney infection 1.5 years ago.

22 weeks: ANOTHER u/s in Birmingham.  I'm glad I'm being seen so much but goodness, it's a lot. This time it was my anatomy scan. Granted, we've pretty much seen everything up to this point but it's always good to have the reassurances.  No cleft palates (that was a worry since Pred is known to cause it when taken in the first trimester) and no abnormalities seen.  With just a week between growth checks, both had gained 2 oz each! Perfect!  Both were still transverse with their heads on my right side.  I mentioned to them about my right kidney hurting so they did a ultrasound on both kidneys. Yep, a 5mm kidney stone on my right with swelling and fluid.  While I'm not surprised I have one, it brings back terrible memories of my kidney stones in Skittles pregnancy 10 years ago.  I shutter just thinking about it.

23 Weeks: I'm now having HORRIBLE bladder issues to the point of tears because something isn't right.  I called my OB and they had me come in to check my urine again for infection.  Nope, no infection (but still had blood) seen but they are sending it out to be cultured just in case.  I'm absolutely miserable with feeling the urge to pee every 15 secs even after going.  My OB is convinced it's a kidney stone (or fragments of one) in my tube causing bladder irritation.  He gave me some strong bladder numbing meds that turn my urine blue and Flomax for helping my bladder and ureter relax. It took 2 days but I'm finally feeling relief because the meds have kicked in.  I HATE that I'm taking so many pharmaceuticals but I couldn't function like I was.  Kidney stones can SUCK it.  And before anyone says, "Drink more water!" just know that I am.  I drink NO coffee (even though I want to), soda or sweet tea and haven't for months starting before my IVF transfer.  I don't even drink juice.  I'm just prone to these stupid things...will you pray my bladder issues/stones resolve without meds?  And that my 5mm stays put?
Cutest little nose!

Baby A is on the right

During this appt, I got ANOTHER u/s since I was having some cramping issues and they wanted to check on the babies.  Heart rates were 149bpm and baby A was once again head down and B was transverse.

I'll update again once I have both my appts this week at 24 weeks.  The babies now have a 50/50 chance at life outside my womb if they were born now.  Obviously, they need to stay cooking as long as possible but I'm thrilled to have made it this far!

Love to you all!
